Thank you for visiting this heartfelt tribute to Richard Coleman.
Driven by a passion to contribute, to do good and to give back, Richard first joined the Association as a volunteer in 2004 following the diagnosis of his wife, Jo.
As her full time carer throughout her illness, Richard became acutely aware of the struggle for those who suffer from MND to get the care and support that they need. Sadly, after just 22 months, Jo passed away in May 2006.
Following her passing, Richard remained fully committed to the mission of the MNDA as a volunteer and he became chairman of the Chiltern Branch in 2006, a position he has held ever since. At National level, he was elected as a Trustee in 2011 and, in 2018, he took over as as Chair of the Board of Trustees until he stepped down when his 4 year term ended in June 2022.
At both the national and local levels, he bought his passion to make a difference and worked diligently to help improve the lives of others, to raise awareness and to help fund research to find a cure.
Richard is survived by his sons - Nick, Dom and Tim, his daughters-in-law - Heather and Shannon, and his grandchildren - James, Sophie, Lachlan (Jeff), Raleigh and Austin. Always with a glass in hand, a glint in his eye, and a joke at the ready, he is much loved and will always be remembered.
We invite you to share a memory, to upload a photo and, if you so choose, to donate to the MNDA in order to honour his efforts to support others.
In memory of a dearest friend who gave so much to so many in his life. A wonderful man whose love and great friendship is missed every hour of every day. Thank you Richard for your steadfast love and generosity, memories of which will be treasured for ever more. You were such a precious person who gave so much colour to many lives, especially mine. With all my love now and forever more.
In eternal memory of Richard, a very dear friend for many years, who will be much missed
I've known Richard for many years and know how much hard work he did for the MND Association over the years. He will sorely be missed by us all. Thinking of you all while you are grieving your loss.
